Well said! I'll have to check this book out. Contrasting development and modernization makes the issues so clear. Mere modernization is like a parent who chooses to give their child lots of great toys (even educational toys) but never teaches them life-skills or builds their character. Or if your math teacher shows you how to work a calculator but never teaches you to add.
I pray the Lord will give us wisdom as an organization how to invest our diverse resources (spiritual, financial, time, man-power, emotional…) – into things that truly develop the individuals and communities that we influence, whether Haitian or foreign.
Thanks to you and Danielle for the investment of heart, spirit and mind that you are making in Haiti.

Byakuka(are you a Bleach fan?),I know exactly what you are talking about!I got some for babysitting, and I love 'em.You can buy them online(I will show you the site),but if you choose not to,there are actually stores that are called,''Discovery Toys''.If you go to map quest, type in your address and when they ask you about businesses, type in Discovery Toys, you can probably find one in your state. If not, then, buy them online.I know they have a store in NC,and it's actually very near me,but I'm not sure if they have them wherever you live. Site; Hope you and your son have fun!
