Educational Toys | Seasonal Toys R Us To Open At Mall
The 3,600-square-foot store will open in mid-September and should stay at least through early January, according to Dawn Becker, the mall’s general manager.
“On-the-go parents, grandparents and last-minute shoppers looking to purchase everything on little ones’ wish lists in one quick trip will find a selection of playthings and perennial favorites, including dolls, action figures and educational toys to fit every budget,” said Katie Reczek of the Toys R Us corporate communications office.
Most of the chain’s stores occupy a space about four times the size, but the company opened about 90 smaller seasonal locations, called Toys R Us Express, last year. Some of them stayed open permanently.
“A Toys R Us Express store makes it convenient for consumers to shop with us now and throughout the holiday season, and allows us to take advantage of seasonal foot traffic in malls and shopping centers,” Reczek said.
Becker said the mall was enthusiastic about the new tenant and its selection for the young and young at heart.
“We’re very excited,” she said. “They’re going to be completely restocking it. There’s never been a Toys R Us in Houma before.”
The hope is, she said, that good sales convince the store to stay permanently, she said.
The store is hiring, but officials wouldn’t say how many employees, or give a precise opening date.
The Wayne, N.J.-based company has about 850 stores in the United States. KB Toys closed when the company went out of business in February 2009.

Thanks for the plug!!! My husband and I own My Favorite Toys at the University Mall in Carbondale, and I am indeed an educator who works with kids with special needs. I would be glad to talk to parents, teachers and therapists about our toys either at the store or on the web at Send us suggestions of educational toys, too. We like to be in conversation with our community! Hope Jamie is enjoying Thomas!

Her children are too young to be asking for fast food. Once their school friends introduce them to it it will be a different story. I work in the child care industry and soooooo many times I hear parents talk about what they won't allow: fast food, TV & videos. Trust me – they do not last LOL Before long those kids are infront of the tv with a bag of sweets !!!!!!
I've also heard parents-to-be say their kids will only have 'educational toys'. Oh please…

Discovery Toys are awesome! It's better to order them from an individual than from the company headquarters. That way you have a person to communicate with directly. Here's a good link to use:
Click "Shop Products" in the upper right part of the page.

Well I didn't play with one as a child but I bought my son one of those inflatable ball pits for his first birthday and he loved it! I think it was only like $20 at Wal-Mart.

I am native-born Russian.
1. Yes, we have iPods, lcd TVs, cell phones, everything. Except Apple computers and other Apple paraphernalia because frankly Apple isn't very popular.
2. No, because in the US I have much more opportunities for a better education at the world's top universities.
3. Yes, I would.
4. The educational system is much stricter, the material is more difficult and given in large amounts. If you don't do your homework, you copy it from some braniac that does.
5. I'd have a pretty good future. I'd go study abroad in say England or the US, or graduate a top university in Moscow. I'd work as a software engineer and move to the US later.

It sounds like fun, but don't stress out too much on how to set it up because in the end the dress up will be in the grocery store, the dolls in the construction site and the microphone lost the the book nook.

Byakuka(are you a Bleach fan?),I know exactly what you are talking about!I got some for babysitting, and I love 'em.You can buy them online(I will show you the site),but if you choose not to,there are actually stores that are called,''Discovery Toys''.If you go to map quest, type in your address and when they ask you about businesses, type in Discovery Toys, you can probably find one in your state. If not, then, buy them online.I know they have a store in NC,and it's actually very near me,but I'm not sure if they have them wherever you live. Site; Hope you and your son have fun!
