I'm a Senior in college studying middle grades education and I am very discouraged by this university's school of education. I've taken 6 classes so far (one I'm in now and apparently failing no matter how hard I try) and every one of the classes is just reitterating te same damn thing with slightly different emphasis or lense. that's an entire semester's worth of classes that could have been one class.
I feel like all the information is either common sense, or unpractical. very little of it seems worthwhile.
and to top it off, I've spoken to graduate students who now have teaching jobs and they've all said that this school of education is worthless and that 90% of what they teach you is completely irrelevent to teaching in the real world.
I don't know what to do. I feel like I can't make it through this, but I really want to teach. [...]
