Where can I find a free video chess tutorial to improve my game?
drapper25 asked:
Return to Educational ResourcesI’m already deep into books(chess for dummies, Bobby Fischer teaches, etc.) – I want a video course that can help me develop my chess game. I have Fritz 9 and have already watched the video tutorials on that program. Any further suggestions? Thanks

You ask a very, very good question. I’m thinking about making an instruction video myself for beginning and intermediate level players.
The truth is that most of these videos really seem to **** out there. I watched one done by brude pandofini, amercias premier chess coach. it makes a better paperweight.
I’m harsh, but I have right to be. This is chess. man. Possibly the greatest sport/cerebreal exercise/abstract art since co-ed ***** twister. Somebody wants to learn something, they tune in, and are lost really quickly or get bored with the analysis. After all, half of analysis is ****.
What happens is that somebody gets a clip of these videos, and the doodyhead that just answered me gains leverage and losing sight for the real truth we appreciate.
I’ve watched and heard of other videos. They mostly ****.
However, I do have hope for Yasser Sierwan. I love the stuff he does. I posted a link. I love his books too. He’s at least simple, interesting, practical and insightful. I can’t say enough good things, lol
It sounds like you are doing the right thing though. Believe it or not, you only need to read about six books to make it to class A level. Throw away bobby fishers book. Its good for 10 year olds starting out. You want a general strategy book, a general book on openings. A book on engame studies. A THICK book on combinations. Read those and go to a local chess club where they have strong players. You’ll notice quick improvement in no time.
Anyways, when I make that video, I’ll be sure to mention it to you.

I don’t really know. I can give you an advice…. why don’t you try Chessmaster 10th Edition, provided by Ubisoft…if you’ve got a chance, of course…. I’ve already tried it, it helped me to improve my skills… it covers basic tutorials, opening games, end games, famous games, and J. Waitzkin’s academy… some strategy and tactic tutorials too… From beginner opponents through grand master opponents.
Then you must join an on-line chess academy where you’ll be rated by your skills and play with clever opponents… it’ll help you

it’s only free for 7 games, but get chessmaster by ubisoft/iwin.com. i could never put my opponent into checkmate until i practiced with the virtual players, and i didn’t start at the bottom. the one thing i can never figure out is why sometimes a game is ended due to a stalemate, since i am able to see legal and available moves of the players. i love my chessmaster game. it calms me down whenever i feel nervous and makes me happy when i am down. I LOVE CHESS! IT HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST GAME THAT ANYONE EVER THOUGHT OF! ps: some of the business that we do, some of the little bratty games that some people play on you, are truly chess games. when you look at situations like that in a chess-strategy way, it’s amazing how easily you can analyze what may happen next and what you will do about it. have funnnnn!

The best way to improve your game is to play. You must play and play and play. The masters did not try to get instruction and read books for dummies. They just played the game. You should play as many different people as you can, too. Each one will play a different game and you must adjust your strategy for each one. As you get better at the game there will be more time between moves and you will become board waiting for your opponent. You also have a certain amount of time to move. This is when you start playing two or more people at a time. If you play two you get more proficient twice as fast, three it is thrice as fast, and so on.
Below are a few links. Use them all because the people at each one play a different game. That will help you grow to master chess.
Enjoy your game. It is lots of fun.
Good Luck

I reccommend that you play it online with another person, live so you could learn tactics, gain knowledge from experience. It’s not a study game, not like picking a mathematics book to familiarize w/ principles, rather overly involves “logic,” after knowing all rules.
Indians came up with the game to apply in real life strategics used in wars.

I’ve a CD of “Maurice Ashley teaches chess”. I found it great. It’s of company ‘Davidson – Simon & Schuster’. It offers u 4 levels : Basics, Challenges, Srategies, Final play. It also has ‘Championship training’ level by level. It also shows u different Master Games & their moves in some critical situations in details, like: Paris 1858, Hastings 1895, NewYork 1965, Belgrade 1970, Moscow, Nottingham, Dubna etc. I think u’ll like it too.

Nothing beats playing with a variety of players, whether they are better or not.
You will always learn something new from them.
