International Schools Of Jewish Education
International schools came in to existence during the last decade. International Baccalaureate is a worldwide recognized educational board. There were only two kinds of schools earlier, one was the government authorized schools and other was the private schools. These were either residential or were regular schools that function for 6 to 8 hours.
The international schools are also privately owned and managed schools but there is difference in the activities and working of the school. There are many features that give international schools an edge over other private schools.
The Lower school Program is for children under grade 5. The faculty of lowers school program instill love of learning, a awareness about the world and a sense of respect and responsibility towards others among a child. Students are encouraged to develop socially, emotionally and intellectually in a setting that promotes individuality, eagerness and curiosity. The goals are for the students to learn how to question, how to think, and how to communicate.
The Middle school Program is for children from grade 6 to grade 10. The Middle School years offer a particularly important phase of personal and rational development that helps students participate actively and responsibly in a changing and increasingly interrelated world. Learning how to learn and how to evaluate information critically is as important as learning facts. They also study the subjects from each of the subject groups through the IB’s five areas of interaction. It comprises learning, community and services, creativity, environment and health and social education.
Students under grade 11 and grade 12 came into middle school program. Students are required to take Hebrew in order to fulfill the foreign language requirement. Students may opt for both Hebrew and Spanish. Bible, Ethics, Nach, Jewish Advocacy, Tefilah and Talmud comprise the base of the Judaic Studies program. Through the Study of Sacred Text, in combination with classroom discussions, students build up the knowledge, skill and values. Hillel believes Upper School students must attain these skills in order to deepen their commitment to Judaism, the Jewish People and the State of Israel.
The primary aim of the examinations conducted by the International schools is to test the knowledge not the speed. The system followed by the organization is also very different from the rest.
It is also surprising to know that there are no examinations till you reach the upper school education. The schools under community are designed to concentrate to enable students to know “how to learn” rather than “what to learn”. But before you choose any international school directly, search about it and check out all the details available online.
