Can Switching To Solar Energy Cut Your Energy Bills?
Several factors have created a good deal of curiosity about the implementation of solar energy sources in lieu of the traditional fossil fuels currently used for the generation of electricity. Solar energy has yet to replace fossil fuels as the primary source of energy in homes and businesses, and uncertainties about its cost are one of the major concerns keeping it from gaining a foothold. Just how cost effective is it to switch to solar energy?
Some businesses and homeowners are leery of the initial cost of installing a solar energy system. The long-term impact, however, is what needs to be scrutinized. Tax credits and incentives of varying sizes will place the cost of a solar energy system that will capably power a home or office building around the $2,500 to $82,000 range. That is a large range of figures, but it takes into account homes and businesses alike. Fossil fuels would cost around $60,000 to burn over the next 20 years, so it can be seen that solar energy on average is comparable. After 20 years, though, solar energy makes up ground because it costs nothing to collect sun rays. Setup and occasional maintenance are the only costs a solar energy system induces.
At the moment, many may not find it feasible to fully eliminate the use of fossil fuels, but even using solar energy to augment a power system helps. There are some places on Earth that don’t receive many sunny days or direct sunlight, but dwellings in these regions will still find smaller electric bills if their building has solar panels. A hybrid system may not rely solely on solar energy, but it is still significantly cheaper than using electricity generated by fossil fuels alone.
Solar panels themselves have come down in price in recent years. Their cost was one of the obstacles that residential solar energy generation faced, but it is less of a concern these days. Prices currently range from around $9.50 per watt to $11.00 per watt depending on the material from which they are constructed. Flat plate collectors that can daily heat 40 to 80 gallons of water usually run from $2,000 to $4,000.
In terms of home improvement projects, solar energy systems are comparable in price. The amount of energy used in the long run combined with the initial setup cost will determine the cost effectiveness of solar energy. It is an investment for the future.

To add to the blog, one of the smart growth principles that I noticed was the multiple use of solar panels. I saw a group of solar panels that were shaped like trees, which is cool because they are environmentally sustainable because they are using alternative energy and they are socially sustainable because they are a form of art that people will appreciate walking by.

Thank you for your noble attempt at the English language. It's a tough one to master. I'll touch on a few points. First the 20%/80% disparity:
Most Americans are greedy and lazy. Urban sprawl has pushed people further from the services they use, so cars are a requirement to most. Unlike in Europe, where small cars and public transportation are the norm, Americans feel the need to have the biggest and the best. Some, but not all.
Muslims are not, by default, terrorists. Most people can't seem to grasp the fact that Muslims, Christians, and Jews all worship the same God, the God of Abraham. There are as many good Muslims as there are good Christians, but extremism infects both equally, also.
To sum it up: Greed, Sloth, and lust -three of the 7 deadly sins.

A supermarket chain is to give away 1m energy-saving light bulbs this weekend.
On October 27, Sainsbury's will be giving away energy-saving light bulbs to customers who agree make an energy-saving pledge.
To claim a free Philips 11 watt bulb (equivalent to 60w incandescent light bulb), customers at 450 of its stores around the UK will be asked to choose from a variety of pledges ranging from switching to energy-saving lighting, taking reusable bags for shopping rather than use disposable bags, or drying clothes outdoors or hanging them up inside rather than using a tumble dryer.
Sainsbury's says that the 1m energy-saving light bulbs, which is the number the supermarket normally sells in a year, will save 40,000 tonnes of C02.
