Criminal Defense Attorney Long Beach: Crime Of Sodomy Explained

A sodomy law is a law that identifies certain sexual acts as crimes. The actual sexual acts intended by the term sodomy are rarely spelled in the law, but they are usually recognized by courts to include any sex act deemed abnormal. Additionally , it carries a range of related euphemisms. Such laws and regulations have origins in antiquity, and they are connected to spiritual proscriptions against particular sex acts. Contemporary proponents of sodomy laws argue that there are actually additional reasons for retaining them.

Sodomy is most commonly legally understood to be any contact between the genitals of one person, and the mouth or anus of another. The word has its origins in Christianity. It is sometimes used to mean sexual deviation, although in legal contexts it is described as above. In the course of history, “sodomites,” generally male homosexuals and bestialists, have been punished by a largely theocratically controlled government, in hopes of stamping out “ungodly practices” that might carry divine retribution towards Christian society. In medieval Europe, sexual intercourse between a male field worker along with a noble woman was legally regarded as “sodomy,” since it was thought to result in a bad harvest. The background of the idea of sodomy is associated with the Church practically in every circumstance. The word sodomy describes the homosexual pursuits of men inside the account of the city of Sodom in the Scriptures. The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah because of the residents’ immorality grew to be a central part of Western attitudes toward forms of non-procreative sexual activity and same-sex interaction.

The next state laws explain the legal charges for consensual sexual behavior involving a person’s sexual organs and the oral cavity or anus of another. These behaviors are categorized as the general legal rubric of sodomy or crimes against nature where it can be marginalized, prohibited, and penalized. Similar acts and questionable laws are also provided where suitable. States which consider a logical justification declare that these acts harm the “moral welfare” of society and they have made the decision that all harm to “moral welfare” can be best remedied by stringent penalties enforced against the people who partake in those behaviors.

No state has attempted to clarify how any specific private consensual act between adults harms the “moral well being” of society but still the laws continue to be on the books and lawful administration continues. This causes citizens to lose respect for the lawful structure and to not take its laws and regulations honestly because they assume that various other laws share exactly the same illogical, unreasonable, and uninformed basis.

Anal or oral intercourse between human beings, or any sexual interaction in between a human being and an animal, the act of which can be punishable as a legal offense. The term sodomy obtained various definitions over time. Under the Common Law, sodomy consisted of anal sex. In the USA, the word eventually encompassed oral sex along with anal sex. The crime of sodomy was classified as a felony. Since homosexual activity involves anal and oral sex, gay men have been the primary focus of sodomy laws. Culturally and traditionally, homosexual activity was viewed as abnormal or perverse.

I'm not sure what type of thesis your assignment calls for, but it's not argumentative in its current form. It's just a statement of fact. A more interesting thesis would make a case for WHY Hurston died in poverty and obscurity. Kristy Anderson's documentary Zora Neale Hurston: Jump at the Sun is a good place to start, as is Valerie Boyd's Wrapped in Rainbows: The Life of Zora Neale Hurston.

Also, here's a tip: don't copy and paste any suggested answers that you get here into your essay, and be sure to credit anyone whose ideas you use. Otherwise, you'll be plagiarizing.

Yes, we will definitely post the meeting notes. I'm also trying to create a section with links to all kinds of education articles, mostly from the Providence Journal to see what is going on with RI education…

Frederick Douglass shows that the better educated someone is the more the idea of slavery of any kind becomes abhorrent

This is why the slave owners – particularly those in the southern states did all they could to prevent their "goods" even learning how to read and write and placed all sorts of obstacles in the way of true equality for all men (which after all is part of the founding fathers aims and 230 years on is still not fully achieved)

In text citations are needed every time you take something from a source, whether you quote directly or paraphrase. In other words, if it's not something you already knew, you need to be quoting it. Direct quotes require a page number in the in-text citation, while paraphrases do not. So the in-text format for a direct quote is (author last name, p.XX, year) while for a paraphrased sentence it is (author last name, year). For more help I highly recommend this site:

ETA: If it is information you did not know before you read a source, you HAVE to quote it (whether you paraphrase it or not!)

Jolandra and Peggy, I enjoyed your student empowerment theme. I am not yet able to view the video, probably because of some plug in I have not realized I need. I did like the empowerment concept presented by Cavanaugh (2009). He teaches web design to students in Florida. Cavanaugh describes his mix of students as being from “different worlds.” For example, he describes Brianna as a bright young women who loves art and drama but who has no computer at home. Kevin on the other hand is only 12 years old but has a computer at home and has studied JavaScript and HTML to build his own website.

But, Cavanaugh’s web design course helps bridge this gap in Internet access by giving them technical know-how in a student-centered learning environment. They get to make their own decisions, work as members of a team, and gain valuable skills that translate into other academic endeavors.

They get to use Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Macromedia Flash where Brianna can transfer skills over to art and drama that she loves so dearly. Cavanaugh says his web design course has progressed from 6th grade introduction to web design, 7th grade web design, and 8th grade web animation. I wish I could transform my skills so quickly.

The teacher had to first evolve before the teacher could transform the learning environment to empower students to evolve. Students get to learn about the web, networking, servers, digital communication, software used to create or control the web and how to organize and present websites.

This is a lifelong learning skill that will benefit their careers and lives especially if they end up in the web design field. Cavanaugh listed about 8 learning traits students acquire from problem-solving, independent thinking, complex concepts grasped, expressing individuality through creative outlets, working in teams, organizational skills, building confidence, to addressing education’s goals.

I think this is what Dr. Sugar is having us to do and we are evolving into these 8 traits as we move through our studies.

Politics? The only two things we can be sure of, and by that I mean 100 percent certain is; nothing about politics is as 'We The People' see, read, hear or think; whatever the issue/s currently on display in the political arena are.

The other thing is that YOU can be 100 percent CERTAIN, you're being LIED to. (all the time)

You can count on there being a hidden agenda for everything regarding politics no matter if you are right, left, a top or a bottom. *grins*

So, in answer to this particular question; look for all the stuff you can't see, hear or read, and that is not being talked about, because what we see, read, hear and think is true, is most certainly NOT. (100 percent of the time)

And that is not cynical or paranoid thinking . . .

IT IS HISTORICAL AND PRESENT "FACT!"

EDIT1:
A direct answer to your question would be. YES!

The only place for politics in the classroom is if you are taking a political sciences class/curse, where they actually teach you how to LIE politically or with that proverbial politicians lying face, and get away with it.

Try and always remember, these are the very people that kiss your baby while smiling and reaching into that same babies carriage to steal his/her candy, rattle, blanket and even that diaper. Then they move onto the next victim and repeat the previous action until they think they have had a good political day as they have robbed you and you weren't even aware that they did it.

Have you ever wondered why all politicians are RICH LAWYERS first? Have your ever heard of a mid to low level income earner, say . . . A Bus Driver, get elected to a political office? They don't have or make enough money to bye their way into such a position!
