Getting Involved in Your Child’s Education: Four Easy Tips

Parents always hope for the very best for their children, providing them with whatever they need for long, healthy, happy and prosperous lives.

As parents, we know that our children will have the best chance at happiness and prosperity if they have a solid education.

From nursery school to secondary school to college, the things they learn in these institutions will have a huge influence on their lives.

And though a good education is important, it is not necessarily a guarantee. This is where parents come in. We must play an active role in ensuring that our children receive the necessary formation they need. Not sure how? Take some cues here:

1. Ask for References Reference-requesting should begin as soon as you start to think of sending your kids off to daycare or nursery school. Not only is this a way to make sure that the place you’ll be sending your son or daughter off too is reputable, but it’s also a way to make sure it is safe as well. Talk to friends with kids who are a bit older than your own to see what they say about the institutions to which they’ve children to send their children. Don’t be afraid to ask schools for references as well – they’ll be sure to have a list of fellow parents happy to talk to you about whatever questions or concerns you may have.

2. Encourage Involvement School is not just about what goes on in the classroom. In fact, many of the most important experiences children get in school comes from extracurricular activities. Encourage your child to get involved in at least one activity – a sport, a club, a student government entity, whatever interests them. There’s no need to be too forceful, but let them know how important such activities are. Not only are they great ways to make social connections and learn new things, but they also look great on resumes.

3. Know What’s Going On Simply knowing what your child’s doing in school is extremely important to ensuring the smooth running of his or her education. There’s no need to be too overbearing – just talking about school is probably enough. At the end of the day, ask your children how school is going. Find out what classes they’re taking and offer to help them out wherever you can. Know who their teachers are and talk to them if you feel that your son or daughter may be struggling.

4. Learn About Your Child You may be surprised to find out how complex of a creature your child really is. Talk to him or her about future plans and dreams, about interests and hobbies and likes and dislikes. Ask your child about what he or she sees in the future. There probably won’t be many definitive answers, but he or she is sure to have something in mind. What’s important is getting a general conversation going about the future.

Probably social science, since it is broader than history. Social science will probably also include at least one course in psychology, and that will help you with knowing how to teach students.

Who says I didn't like the panties?

The story most likely won't rise above the usual harem fare, and if it tries to do so, it'll probably become less entertaining as we'll all be too busy groaning at the bad writing.

And this isn't a bragging rights contest as to who's further along in post-secondary education. This is an anime blog. Big difference.

yep thats about right. no activity.
dont expect any changes to the status quo as far primary education is concerned. if it were a question of reservation in higher education the country would be burning. but the fact is right off the block in primary education itself there is a huge disparity, there is no universality. that makes reservation at higher levels unavoidable.

Good points. The author acknowledged and I think you and I both agree a college degree isn't for everyone, but certainly everyone should have access to post-secondary education. If they can't afford it and there's no financial aid that's definitely a problem. Community college seems very affordable to me personally, but it's worth checking my privilege there, isn't it? Thanks.

Interesting question. If you were to look at Aboriginal Australians and try to look at their culture without the sacred/holy element, their culture would be non-existent.

Embedded in Aboriginal culture's sense of the sacred is music, dance, geography, art, agriculture, and law.

I've read a treatise that puts forth the idea that Aboriginal Australians are Nietzsche's ubermench; supermen; as in, they ARE Zarathustra. Provocative. And I can see the point of view. After all, the Aboriginal culture defines their various territories by song. Common boundaries share sonatic elements.

Maintaining that culture should be a world imperative. To lose it against the glare of modern society would be an incalculable loss.
