As a parent, you will be the one who are responsible for the growth of your children. Make sure that you give the best education for your children. You can start teaching them to read as early as possible. If you have no idea on how to teach your children to read, we have the following tips.

First thing you should do is to make your little kids familiar with books. Read to them everyday. Don’t wait until they seem to have ability in understanding words and sentences. Though they have not understood what you are talking about, they can learn to talk and think by this process. Besides, getting accustomed to books as early as possible can lead them to a reading habit when they grow up later.

Reading to them daily will make them see that reading is important. Thus, your little kids will be more interested in learning how to read themselves. It probably sounds like, “Mom and Dad can read. I can too”. Move your fingers along the word when you read to your little kids that they will see how the printed letters sound.

Teaching your little kids needs some careful attention on their motor development and their mood. Make sure that you start teaching them to read in the right phase that they are ready to read. Otherwise, your children will be stressed. Children are usually ready to learn reading at the age of 3-4. However, some might be interested in letters of the alphabet at 2 years old, while some are not ready even when they reach 5 years of age. Always pay attention them.

The next thing you have to do is to teach the sounds of the alphabet. It is suggested that you teach the sound first rather than the name of the letters. It is because in arranging words, your little children tend to combine the letter sounds. Don’t introduce all the letters of the alphabet in one time. They will be confused that they will fail to memorize even a single letter. Let them master one letter before you introduce another one.

While introducing the letter A, you can give them an image with the initial letter A, such as an apple image. If you find that they are able to memorize all letters, then they are ready for reading. Give them consonant-vowel-consonant words, like RED or CUP. All you need to do is to guide them to read everyday.
