Schools | Military Master’s Degree – 5 Best Online Schools

University of Phoenix

University of Phoenix offers a Master of Information Systems degree online that is a gateway degree for a variety of career in data management, data storage, software engineering and systems design. There are ample job opportunities for professionals who have completed an MIS and there are several military training programs that provide the baseline education for enrollment in a graduate program like this. While UOP typically requires a bachelor’s degree for enrollment, they are also a military-friendly school that will be responsive to credit transfers for military training.

DeVry University

DeVry University offers the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) which is a highly valued degree in the technology sector. Many universities have combined their computer science and electrical engineering departments because the two fields can be so closely intertwined. Certainly there are traditional opportunities for electrical engineers working with power generation and distribution systems, but there is also a continuing need for skilled electrical engineers in computer engineering. You’ll need substantial undergraduate preparation in mathematics, but may not need a bachelor’s in electrical engineering to enter this program.

Walden University

If you are leaving the military with a nursing license or even if you are still on active duty you can enroll in the online RN to MSN program at Walden University and earn a Master of Science in Nursing via distance learning. This program will provide the academic work you need to qualify for an MSN and you can work out the clinical hours through a facility where you are currently working or, if you are on active duty, through one of the military healthcare centers. This program does not require a bachelor’s degree; the applicant needs to be a registered nurse holding a diploma, an associate’s degree in nursing or the bachelor’s degree.

Nova Southeastern University

Nova Southeastern University has three online Master of Business Administration programs available to students that hold a bachelor’s degree in virtually any field. There is the standard MBA program, an MBA in Entrepreneurship and an MBA in Finance. Any of these degrees are excellent choices for veterans who want to enter the business world. If you have received some military training in accounting or a related field you should consider an MBA in Finance, which is among the most popular choice for students who wish to work their way into banking, the world of corporate finance or the financial services sector.

Kaplan University

The Master of Science in Criminal Justice at Kaplan University is available in an online format with specialization in Corrections, Policing, Leadership/Management, and Global Issues in Criminal Justice. Veterans with security training generally have good success transferring training experience into undergraduate credits. For many veterans security training may be highly technical, while for others it may be law enforcement oriented. But for any military member or veteran who is interested in continuing to work in security this degree is an excellent option for early entry into management ranks.
