Single Mom | Scholarships For Single Moms – Even Supermom Can Use A Little Help!

Wow, sometimes single moms amaze us! They work all day to pay the bills, and then they come home to try to raise their children. We will not mention the laundry, meals, groceries, shopping, doctor visits, homework, soccer games, dance lessons, and church. A single mom is truly a Supermom! President Obama has stressed his support for single mothers and their families through his Scholarships for Single Moms. He is quite heartfelt in his desire for all moms to be able to finish their education, if they desire to better themselves.

The thing that President Obama knows about this issue is no secret. Experts on every side of the political spectrum will agree that the best tool against poverty is education. Education not only helps move a woman into a better life and career, it propels a whole family unit into a higher standard of living.

The Federal Pell Grant is the main vehicle for accomplishing these goals laid out by the Obama Administration. The maximum amount rewarded has been increased to well over $5000 and all rewards across the board are increased. By relaxing the application criteria, more people are approved to receive this funding, also. It is based on financial need, and that is a great fit for single moms.

Scholarships for Single Moms are available for moms who choose to study online, too. Sometimes there seems to just not be enough hours in the day already, but you can do your class work online after the children go to bed. This is an opportunity you really can’t afford to turn down; even Supermom can use a little help!

Find your own friends and wait until she grows up a bit. Siblings close in age always have it a little harder than the rest. One day you will be close and you'll laugh about it. Until then, ignore her and her friends.

A woman is a single mom if she is not married.

Try not to judge. If her behavior is bothering you, perhaps it is time to end the friendship, rather than complaining about it.

All the best.

Harriett — I don't have any info on scholarships for single moms. Contact WAND (info in flyer above) and they might have some resources for you. Good luck!

Wow, that is really tough. Honestly, only God can change her heart. Start praying about it and ask God to soften her. I like that you offered to treat her to donuts. Even though she was nasty about it, you responded lovingly. Keep doing that, and have a serious talk with your parents about it. If they don't change what they are doing they will find that they have created a monster. Some of this she will hopefully grow out of. When she is mean and says hateful things….try to be calm and tell her that you love her anyway and hope the best for her. Kill her with kindness, and give her space.

And, invest in a lock box so you can start locking up your money.

Wow, I have been in your shoes. I went from being a full time mom to entering the work force. I found that there are grants and scholarships for single moms. You should talk to a financial aid person at your college regarding this. I was able to go to school full time.

Also, you need to talk to an attorney, your spouse should be paying some support to you and the children. Courts will make sure your childrens life should not change. Make the seperation legal and have him pay for some support for your children.

Finally, if you want to enter the work force, get a good resume together. The better the resume, the better the job.

I hope some of this advice helps. I hope it all goes well for you. Good Luck!
