Educational Funding
In the midst of an economic budget crisis educational funding for public and private schools have dwindle.  Local school districts are scraped for cash and don’t really know what to do other than to cut funds. There has been a public outcry from parents and students but it seems as if it is falling on death ears. Communities are saying to themselves what can be done to maintain educational funding for their schools and at the same time cut costs.
This has probably been the greatest economic meltdown in the US since the great depression but yet in still we are hearing that companies are making record profits. If this the case than why is this not reflected, in communities across the country. Everyday you are hearing that people are still losing jobs and home values are still in the toilet.
So how does this equate to educational funding for local school districts. Just about every school district in America rely on ax revenue from real estate property values to fund education. If real estate property values are low, than that equates to less taxes being collected for education. Therefore, school systems are totally reliant on these taxes.
There are not any private funds helping out school districts except for fund raisers that each school have for things like field trips, school supplies, educational games and toys, and computer software.   So how can school systems maintain educational excellence with these kind of budget cuts?
Some ideas that are being thrown around is to charge tuition like private schools to subsidize the budget shortfall. Other ideas is to do more computer based learning which would decrease the number of teachers needed. What do think? Is educational funding as we know it gone forever?
