Fun, educational toys for an 8 year old girl?
Question by ohio_gator: Fun, educational toys for an 8 year old girl?
My oldest daughter just turned 8 last month and I am racking my brain trying to come up with some Christmas ideas. We have so many Barbies and Polly’s we just can’t handle anymore. She has an entire bookcase full of books and tons of craft projects. I want to get her some educational, but FUN toys, activities or projects. Nothing too mainstream like Webkinz (we are already owners of a few). Some original ideas would be great. Thanks!

Teach her how to bake, like cookies.
I would say Easy Bake oven but I don’t know if those are safe anymore.
My girls used to like to put frosting on cookies and decorate them.
Do they still have Make-It-And-Bake-It things?
They used to like making those plastic bugs and things and give them to their friends at school.
I just depends on what she is interested in.
Maybe get her interested in a collection of something.
Tinkertoys or Lincoln Logs to build things.

how about the fly pentop computer??? or an easy bake oven? a slurpee maker? cotton candy machine? leapster hand held video game system? v tech v-smile learning game console? Maybe take her to the toy store and let her show you some things she likes, then you will have an idea on what she wants. Also how about a bratz styling head?? My 8 year old cousin has one and she loooves it! its like a life-like head with real hair that you can style. You can do her hair, make up, and nails.

I bought my 8 year old daughter the Wii video game system for Christmas. I like it because it gets them up off of the couch to play some of the games. My daughter doesn’t even like Barbie or other dolls, they are basically unplayed with at the bottom of her toy box. She really likes her V-tech games (which teach spelling, math etc.) and board games like Cadoo. You should go to the web site for the Toy of the Year Award winners. They test all the new toys on kids. The award winners will have a sticker on the outside of the package when you go shopping at the toy store.
