What are some toys that are either educational or develop good hand eye cordination skills?

Question by LakersFan: What are some toys that are either educational or develop good hand eye cordination skills?
As weird as it might sound I actually have to design a toy for a 1st grade child for an upcoming school project. It has to be a toy that is either educational or develops hand eye cordination. I have a few ideas of what to do but if you could give me a few of yours it would be much appriciated. Thanks!

The only thing I can think of are those Nintendo DS games that are for giving you good hand eye coordination. Otherwise you could do a series of bulbs placed randomly on a board, and under each bulb there should be a word. Down on the bottom of the board should be another row of the same words. Somehow control the bulb (like touching a wire to the back of it) and when a bulb lights up, have them point/touch the word that matches the bulb down below. I honestly don’t know if that helps or not but gl.

lyn @ 9:30 pm:

Buy a pack of 50 Dixie cups and have him build cup walls or castles – then let him crash it by driving a toy car through it.
- concentration
- balance
- Patience
- coordination
- and it is a cheap toy , easy to store , when on gets smashed you just toss it

There are countless “real” toys that did just that. I was always a lego kid. TRUST me! Any building toys such as Lego, Meccano, K-Nex, and Planko are highly educational. They teach kids how to read instructions (which is important and stimulating believe it or not) and also basic concepts about structures.

As for hand-eye coordination, there used to be a toy called “Bop-It”. This toy would yell commands and kids would have to manipulate it in a certain timeframe.

All of these toys were very good to me growing up lol.
