Financial Aid | Earning A Degree For Parents – Financial Aid Available To Become A Graduate

Educational scholarships and colleges are available upon various eligibility criteria and to a wide section of the society. They are mostly provided for children and teenagers who are unable to study further due to lack of funds. The mothers even though are a very important link in the family chain is hardly provided any support in the form of finances to start their education again. Educated mothers add the missing spark in their home life and professional life and it was for this purpose that scholarships and grants for mothers to attend college are available.

The organizations and institutions who are working behind this are deeply concerned about the existing life of mothers in which the lack of education pushes them backward in this competitive world. For this reason, many organizations have pooled in their efforts to provide the required financial care to the mothers. An important organization which is working towards the development of women is the eLearners who are working effectively towards the growth of women along with the cooperation from various online colleges and universities like American Intercontinental University, Ashworth College, Walden University and others. ‘Project Working Mom: Putting Education to Work’ is a major step taken by eLearners and for the academic year 2010-2011 has announced to donate an amount $5 million as scholarships for mothers.

The federal government also understands the situation the mothers face due to absence of the required qualifications. Under Obama’s guidance, the government has introduced certain scholarships and grants in such a way that if the paperwork is approved and accepted by them, then the entire cost of the degree or qualification will be provided by the government. The most important amongst the federal grants is the Pell grants, for which the federal government has set aside an amount of $17 billion for the year 2010-2011. The federal grants have to applied online through the application centre called FAFSA and the application for the same is free.

It has come into light in the recent months that there is a reduction in the fees for higher education, owing to American opportunity Tax Credit Program. According to this program, up to $4000 of the initial fees of any higher educational course is free for all Americans. Also, Obama’s ‘Moms return to School’ program is being publicized very well so that the message behind the movement is understood by all the mothers of the society. Most of these scholarships are for educational courses which can be studied online without attending classes’ on-campus, which is extremely helpful for mothers to earn a degree in the comfort of their homes.

Mothers are an important part of our lives and also share a mark of respect in our society. Scholarships and grants for mothers to attend college are very significant as it showcases how the society by itself is working towards the advancement of mothers.

Many places offer scholarships just for being in a specific group. Take just a few minutes to get a scholarship just for being a mother. That’s $10,000 that does not have to be paid back. Here it is, Scholarship for Mothers and it’s free.

Sue,

Financial aid cannot be transferred. If he is accepted at the new school then this January you will submit the FAFSA to the new school and that school will award you a financial aid packages. That may include grants, scholarships and/or loans such as the Perkins or Stafford loans.

If that is not enough money, then you will need to look into loans such as the Parent PLUS Loan or private loans to make up the difference.

Financial aid is normally defined as any money someone else gives or loans you to go to school. This can be in the form of scholarships, grants, loans, fellowships…. Some financial aid is based on financial need, such as grants that don't have to be paid back. Some financial aid are based on merit, such as scholarships that look at GPA and test scores. And some financial aid is based on a combination of both. Some is based on neither. I've also heard of the term, self-help financial aid- which is money that is loaned to to you pay back. In the back of this publication is a good dictionary of fin aid terms. Here is a good Dept of Ed publication all about what is fin aid.
