SAP is “satisfactory academic progress”

The basic premise is that students receiving financial aid are supposed to be making some reasonable progress toward earning a degree in a reasonable amount of time.

Go to this web page: and scroll to the bottom for the PDF file for the college catalog. Page 25 addresses SAP.

The bottom line is that you can lose your financial aid for the next semester if you don't make SAP. Anyone not making SAP will be contacted by the financial aid office. If you're not sure, contact Financial Aid directly yourself.

Good luck!

I think we agree that the rankings do not neccessarily reflect true academic quality and that more financial aid is always a good thing.

However, given the current state of finances we may have to make the tough choices between financial aid and affordability and academic quality. I think we also agree that there are ways to raise the money so that we don't have to make that choice, but if we did I think that is where we disagree. I look forward to reading your column tomorrow though.

It means whatever you don't spend comes to you. The college you go to will distribute checks.
