Financial Aid | Financial Aids For Single Moms

There are many financial aids for single mom available. These aided programs are in the form of scholarships, student loans, grants, and work study. Being a single mother is no different from being a regular student applying for financial aid. Most financial aids are awarded for academic merits, however there are a lot of grants available to deserving students especially single mom who is pursuing her bachelor’s or graduate degree.

In today’s slow economy, many divorced mothers and single mothers are going back to school to find it difficult to finance their education. Many make the decision to attend universities and colleges because they believe getting a higher education is their key to a more successful and secured future. This could not be truer in today’s worldwide recession. Most employers offering part-time and full-time jobs are cutting back wages on their employees. Having a higher education will give single parents the advantage she needs to be competitive in the workforce. Perhaps the biggest obstacle with attending school is the financial burden that single moms face. Because of this heavy responsibility, more and more individual mothers are looking for financial aids to supplement whatever they can to pay the expensive fees – tuition fees, miscellaneous charges and the likes, just so they could earn their degrees.

The good news for single parents is that there are many governmental agencies and a growing number of non-government organizations available to provide financial assistance. These financial assistance programs are in the form of financial aids and scholarship programs. The Obama Administration is a popular favor in aiding working mothers to return back to school. If qualified under this program, single mother may receive money for returning back to school.

If you are a single mom, who feels that earning your degree or pursuing further studies will be a financial impossibility, don’t be. They are many financial aid and assistance programs that will ensure you an undergraduate or graduate degree.

There are some (perhaps many) unbalanced individuals that post things. She sounds disturbed.

As you said, you are a new Christian and are learning God's word. She should have been encouraging and helpful. Instead she chose to tear you down. That says nothing about you, but it speaks volumes about her.

There is no such thing as a perfect Christian; we all need the Lord.

If it comes from tax money, probably not.
From private endowments, maybe.

How do you get financial aid for summer semester?

Suddenly Human @ 7:12 pm:

You would be limited by the school's published "Cost of Attendance" for the years you are currently enrolled. For example, your first year your school's cost of attendance is $15,000 for a full time graduate student. The second year it's $18,000. So the max amount of financial aid you would be able to get (from all sources) would be $33,000.

Note: You may not actually GET this much, but this would be your limit. As your question stated. Perhaps what your question should be is "What is the max amount of graduate Stafford loans can I get?" Because that is a totally different answer. Good luck.

Read the above page, they say, "The Financial Aid Office has an open door policy and financial aid packets are available for all students." I don't really know, but this line suggests that financial aid is available for every student who applies there.

Financial aid is normally defined as any money someone else gives or loans you to go to school. This can be in the form of scholarships, grants, loans, fellowships…. Some financial aid is based on financial need, such as grants that don't have to be paid back. Some financial aid are based on merit, such as scholarships that look at GPA and test scores. And some financial aid is based on a combination of both. Some is based on neither. I've also heard of the term, self-help financial aid- which is money that is loaned to to you pay back. In the back of this publication is a good dictionary of fin aid terms. Here is a good Dept of Ed publication all about what is fin aid.
