Financial Aid | Get Money, Get Smart

The US economy continues to struggle, and that unfortunately leaves many people with uncertain futures. Recent reports indicate that a large number of unemployed workers will remain without work for months to come. There aren’t many chances to gain employment in some markets, and that has hurt many people. Unfortunately the future isn’t bright in all areas. The condition of the job market may remain for many more months.

Although things are bleak now, there is a silver lining created by providing economic opportunity for several different pursuits. President Obama and Congress have attempted to make home ownership easier and make fleecing the consumer harder. Other serious changes have been made regarding education. The goal is to make loans secure and increase the opportunity for college scholarships. One important result is the Obama Grants for Mothers program. Moms play crucial roles in the lives of their children so it’s a no-brainer to provide education opportunities for them to care for their families.

Obama scholarships for mothers are made possible by federal Pell Grants. The Pell Grant maximum award is a substantial $5,000. Many single mothers have lower incomes so this grant program is particularly aimed at them. The grant can be used to pay for any college fees, the cost of supplies and other miscellaneous expenses that may be needed to ensure you can attend school as scheduled. It’s also important to note that school options are not very limited. Two- and 4-year colleges and universities are acceptable. There are even some online study options.

The first step to get any financial aid is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. This online application is necessary to be awarded any federal grants. There are also many other resources to help you learn about what is available for you. For working people there are some tax credits available for education. A school financial aid office is also a good place to seek information about money.

In the realm of education, scholarships and grants are a key component for a strong system. Sending moms to school has dual benefits: preparing them to be productive members of the work force and allowing them provide for their families. Obama’s scholarships for moms will go a long way toward changing things in a positive way. Education is necessary to equip our leaders now and to prepare new ones for the future.
