Building Future through Education Building future through education is the dream of every student. Yet after passing out the school education a student is concerned with the financial aspects of covering the huge expenses of the post-secondary education. Good news for all such students and their parents and guardians is that help is at hand in terms of Massachusetts scholarships and Massachusetts financial aid. if each scholarship ONLY pays for certain things, then that is all they will pay for… it won't get "Moved" to different costs, because it specifically says what it will pay for… tuition, or just tuition and fees… sorry.

Sounds like your Adams scholarship will be worthless… the one that pays tuition AND fees is the better deal… find a scholarship that will pay for books or housing…
the bad part about waivers is the have no real cash value…. so you can't usually use them for real costs (books, insurance).. etc.

It's scary how expensive college in the US is. I'm lucky because I went to a private uni. with great financial aid packages. If it weren't grants, financial aid, and such, I'd be more than $160,000 in debt. *screams* But, luckily, I don't even have to deal with 1/10 of that amount. I didn't even work while in uni. Private uni. offer students better deals than public ones more often than one would think.

Hi Rose,

Have you called Financial Aid at WSU? 508-929-8056. They mentioned someone called today with a very similar question. Since the Adams Scholarship is a tuition waiver and the Tsongas is a tuition and fee waiver, tuition can only be waived once so the Tsongas would trump the Adams. Congrats on your awards!! We look forward to you joining us in the Fall!!
