They ask you if you live by yourself, how much money you made last year, how long you have lived away from your parents, or, if you still live there, they ask your parents income. If you made under a certain amount, they can offer you loans and grants to help pay for school.

I work for the student loan program and I know each school is allowed to process their loans at their own discretion. In general most school will disburse your loan every year into 2 disbursements throughout the school year (one in the beginning and one toward the middle of the year. After your Cost of Attendance is paid (tuition, books, ect…) you are left with your student refund so bottom line you probably will get 2 student refund checks a year. But your best bet is to call your Financial Aid Office at your school and get the answer from them directly.
The grants work the same when it comes to disbursements, we also work with the Pell Grants at my job
and I have gotten Tap myself as a student and they gave it to me in 2 seperate disbursements at the school I went to "Medaille"

No. Financial aid is based on both your expected contribution (related to your income and savings) and estimated cost. If you're going to an inexpensive college, a summer job will probably cover most of the cost of attendance, so you won't qualify for much. But if the tuition is tens of thousands of dollars and you only earn a couple thousand, it won't make much of a difference.
And no matter what, as long as you complete the FAFSA you'll get unsubsidized loans. But I've had summer jobs and still qualified for subsidized loans.

Find out which one of the reasons you were not in compliance with. Speak with your FA counselor.
Maybe they don't count your "cumulative" GPA, but note if *any* of your individual classes fell below a certain grade.
