Financial Aid | You Should Be Aware Of Programs Of University Financial Aid

Many students are not able to complete their studies due to financial hardship and they face the dilemma and some of them end their learning at the university level before the completion. Majority of students are not aware of the aids that are available from government and other private bodies to complete study courses of deserving candidates. They should be well versed with the rules and regulations to obtain university financial aid to continue their studies.

William @ 12:55 pm:

I am assuming that EST is short for "Estimated"

If it is estimated, that means that you prob haven't turned in all the documentation to them to make your file complete and your aren't being offered any federal aid (the 2,000 is prob just state aid or perhaps just federal and no state) or perhaps you said you didn't want loans and got them at the other school.

Honestly, without more detailed info about what you are being offered I'm just guessing because there is a million different reasons why you wouldn't get the same amount. Whatever the reason, you are 1,000 short and need to contact the school and figure out what documents you still need to turn in. (This is almost certainly one factor here (hence the "EST" for estimated).

This is why comm colleges are so popluar… they are cheaper than universities and have to pay less (if any) out of pocket. Just because you go to a more expensive school doesn't mean you always get more money. Yes, your aid packages aren't always the same from school to school.

Thanks Steven, I was a UC professor and student, and I know the burden of the “financial aid.” I came out of UCLA with quite a bit of loan debt.

I don't think this fee increase is going to improve financial aid. However, a different fee increase that increased the top end tuition even more while increasing financial aid (actual aid-meaning grants) could lessen the effect these tuition increases on lower income households.

So I agree with everybody-more financial aid !- but the actual way that can be done is pushing for even higher tuition and insisting that the increase be directed towards grants etc. The only other way to get more financial aid is to increase taxes in the State (which would be great if they are progressive taxes). And that seems even less politically likely than getting the Regents on board with a plan.
